Welcome to the USMA CREU Project 2013

MapReduce is an exiciting new paradigm for designing large-scale parallel applications. The novelty of MapReduce lies in its ability to largely automate parallel computation, making it easier to write parallel programs. In this project, we explore MapReduce and its applications to computational phylogenetics. As part of our project, we augment an existing open source MapReduce project (MrsRF). Our goal is to contribute to the current MrsRF project, and validate our performance results through experimentation on real-world biological data.
